Tanushree Dutta brought in the wave of #MeToo in India when she accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment past year, after she opened up about the saga that took place on the sets of Horn Ok Pleassss(2019). A "B" summary report is filed when there isn't enough evidence for the police to continue an investigation, according to Asian News International.
Tanushree Dutta, whose lawyer has said they will approach the Bombay High Court, said in her statement that she was exhausted of fighting but that the alleged failure of justice in her case should not discourage other survivors of harassment and assault from speaking up.
Mr. Satpute, however, said neither he nor Ms. Dutta received any official information from police.
Dutta questioned the rush shown by police to file a B Summary report.
"If the police file any B or C classification of Summary Report, that can not be final. We can oppose it in court, and after hearing, if the court is satisfied then again it can again direct police to reinvestigate or investigate further".
Tanushree's lawyer told TNM that the investigation was incomplete and that police had not taken statements from their witnesses.
It was last September, when the Jamshedpur-born former Miss India Tanushree was in Mumbai on a holiday, that she made the allegations in an interview with Zoom TV.
"The police report is not final". She alleged that during the shooting of a song sequence, Patekar inappropriately touched her even after she had clearly mentioned that she will not perform lewd, vulgar or uncomfortable steps.
DCP (zone IX) Paramjit Singh Dahiya confirmed to TOI that a B Summary report had been filed but declined to divulge details.
She then complained about this behaviour to choreographer Ganesh Acharya and his assistant Daisy Shah, thereafter retreating to her vanity van.
The accused were booked under IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (word, gesture or act meant to insult the modesty of a woman), but no arrest was made so far. I still believe btw that I will get justice and victory will be mine! "Before I could reach cops, they had filed a counter FIR". Samee was caught on tape brushing aside Tanushree's story, saying that she must have been on her period. "It will show as to how convinced she's of her own case and if she wants to pursue this". As they attempted to leave in her auto, their way was blocked by MNS party workers and cameramen who allegedly attacked her vehicle.
