No team has come back from a 0-3 deficit to win a playoff series. Early on, the Blazers looked as if they had shaken-off the after-effects of their Game 2 meltdown, swarming the Warriors on defense and executing beautifully efficient offense.
The two-time defending champion Warriors trailed by 18 in the second quarter, but with Green driving them they produced another dominant third period to seize control of the contest and the series. Damian Lillard is averaging 26.8 points and 6.3 assists while CJ McCollum is averaging 24.6 points and 5.2 rebounds. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Warriors are 41-23 all-time in close-out games, including 17-7 since 2015.
Portland leading scorer Damian Lillard has had a hard time with a hovering Golden State defense and, with his team facing elimination from the NBA Western Conference finals, the Trail Blazer All-Star has a decision to make. Fast forward to the fourth, Green already had a triple-double, ultimately finishing with 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists, adding four steals and one block in his stellar defensive effort. Jonas, JB playing solid basketball like he did last night.
The Trail Blazers held double-digit half-time leads in each of the past two games.
The Golden State Warriors have failed to cover 10 of their last 16 games as a favorite. The Trail Blazers only seem to be able to put things together for a quarter or two before things go flat, and they haven chance in hell if Lillard is going to continue playing at this level. Since suffering the injury, Lillard had made just 8 of 27 shots (29.6 percent), including 5 of 16 (31.3 percent) from three-point range.
"I think what they want me to do is make the correct play (by passing the ball)", Lillard told Reuters following his team's 110-99 Game Three loss on Saturday. No NBA team has ever come back from being down three games to none in a seven-game playoff series. So, I don't love the line, but I'll take Golden State.
