Ryan's colorful condemnation came after Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report claimed Sanders misled the public on the firing of former FBI Director James Comey, claiming Comey had lost the support of rank-and-file FBI agents.
The comments Ryan referred to happened in response to so-called "pie-gate" back in 2017, when Ryan questioned the authenticity of a pie picture Sanders had tweeted. "They said 'really, Sarah, countless people have called you from the FBI?' She said yes".
Mueller's report also backed up the newspaper's stories, which the administration denied at the time, that Trump demanded loyalty from then-FBI Director James Comey at a private dinner, and that Trump had asked Comey to end an investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
'Statements are made about me by certain people in the Crazy Mueller Report, in itself written by 18 Angry Democrat Trump Haters, which are fabricated & totally untrue. When a reporter challenged that by saying the vast majority of agents in fact supported him, Sanders said, "Look, we've heard from countless members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation that say very different things".
But Stephanopoulos pushed back, pointing out that the Mueller report said she had told the special counsel her claim wasn't based in any evidence whatsoever - not a few Federal Bureau of Investigation employees thanking Trump.
White House adviser Kellyanne Conway told reporters that the report gave Trump a "clean bill of health". "But the President had made a decision to fire Comey before the White House solicited those recommendations".
Though the president may have no problem with Sanders' alternative facts, it's worth remembering her salary is paid by the American people - who should be able to trust what comes out of the presidential spokesperson's mouth. She hasn't quite admitted lying; she's still lying about her lie.
Sanders replaced Spicer as White House press secretary in July 2017. There he played golf with conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh "and a couple friends", according to the White House. It was merely prelude to what's happening in the White House today. A press secretary with no integrity shouldn't have a platform. Sarah plays a unsafe game in that room. she is lying to the American public.
