At Star Wars Celebration 2019, the show was unveiled in front of a huge conventional hall by writer/producer Jon Favreau and director/producer Dave Filoni, along with the stars of the series: Actors Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, and Carl Weathers.
The series is set between "A New Hope" and "The Force Awakens", sometime after the fall of the Empire and before the rise of the First Order. "We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic".
Favreau also revealed behind-the-scenes footage that included the titular Mandalorian riding a Dewback, a giant lizard from Tatooine.
Carano plays Cara Dune, an ex-rebel shock trooper.
Who is directing The Mandalorian?
Directors for episodes of "The Mandalorian" include actress Bryce Dallas Howard, Deborah Chow ("Jessica Jones"), Rick Famuyiwa ("Dope") and Taika Waititi ("Thor: Ragnarok"), and the only prerequisite was they "had to be a fan of 'Star Wars, ' " Favreau says.
In addition to all of the Star Wars movies, Star Wars Rebels, the series will be added. Weathers' character is looking for someone to seek a very.exclusive product, and hires The Mandalorian to take care of business. Throwback methods, like building and using ship models for spaceflight (which they showed a small featurette documenting) will continue tying this Star Wars step forward to its source.
Some of the original Star Wars cast members might make an appearance as well, with Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) at the top of the list. The Mandalorian looks to be the first show that takes that mandate to heart: Favreau has emphasized that the main character will operate in parts of the galaxy not yet explored by the films.
"I like those odds", the title character coolly responds.
