"The 54-year-old Grammy-winner took to Instagram to share the news, declaring that his 18-year-old daughter Truly Young had got into the university "all on her own". The money was a gift meant to help build an academy - the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation - for undergraduate students whose interests span fields such as marketing, business entrepreneurship, computer science and engineering, audio and visual design, and the arts.
Given the college admissions scandal that's still making headlines, this was a unusual brag - the school literally has a building named after him.
However, Dr. Dre deleted the Instagram this weekend. "No jail time!" said Dre alongside a photo of him and Truly holding her certificate of admission.
Record producer Iovine, 66, known for his work with Bruce Springsteen, U2 and other artists, previously collaborated with Dre on Beats Electronics, the now-Apple subsidiary best known for Beats headphones.
It's an obvious shot at the likes of Lori Loughlin and others who allegedly bribed their children's way into schools such as USC and others.
Their daughters, Olivia and Isabella, have since dropped out of USC in the wake of the scandal.
"Bella and Olivia are suffering in their own ways from the fallout of their parents' decisions", an insider told ET over a week after Loughlin and her husband, designer Mossimo Giannulli, were arrested for alleged bribes totaling $500,000.
"Olivia blames her mom and dad for this scandal and for the downfall of her career", the source tells Us, adding that Olivia "was initially trying to shrug off the scandal as something that would pass after a week and she could go back to her life".
