While it's undoubtably sad news for the Supernatural family, the good news is that season 15 won't be shortened.
In what is surely a sign of the actual apocalypse, Supernatural is officially coming to an end after Season 15 next year. Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins broke the news in a video message right after they told their crew. And we just wanted you to hear from us that though we're excited about next year, it will be the finale. "Though we're excited about next year, it will be the finale, the big grand finale of an institution". You've changed my life so positively", and " You've created something so incredibly fantastic and powerful for so many people around the world. "We're grateful, but we'll work all the emotion in next season", Padalecki promised.
Season 15, which had already been announced, will consist of 20 episodes, much like season 14.
While this is obviously a sad day for Supernatural fans, rumors of the show reaching an end had been circling for a while.
'For us it has been an experience of a lifetime. "We'd like to give special thanks to Jensen, Jared and Misha for making this journey so special", Singer and Dabb said in a joint statement. It is now most important to us to give these characters that we love the sendoff they deserve, ' they concluded.
Even if you enjoyed poking fun at the show's incredible ability to craft endless storylines (and retain a hugely loyal fan base) for those demon-hunting Winchesters, you kind of have to doff your cap to that run.
Ackles also shared some words from Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, who said: "In a show about family, it is awesome, and it is the pride of his life, that it became family".
