George Conway's criticism of the president has drawn a lot of attention and raised many questions about his relationship with his wife, who remains one of Trump's most prominent and vigorous defenders on cable news.
Conway declined to comment on the state of his marriage to the Post, adding that he was proud, not "jealous", of his wife but that he would prefer she not work for Trump.
"POTUS doesn't even know him!" he added.
"A total loser!" Trump wrote about George Conway.
Tweets on Monday included images from the American Psychiatric Association's "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders".
Conway himself responded shortly afterward, tweeting: "Congratulations!" He also supposed that Kellyanne will refer to her public defenses of Trump as a "comically over-the-top" persona, which she will leverage and then discard so she can land a new job on TV after the White House.
George Conway has also asserted on Twitter that Trump's "condition is getting worse" and that "there are now fewer people in the administration able to contain the president and act as a check on his worst impulses".
"No, I don't share those concerns", she said.
But he also took some credit for her present success.
His tweet was included in Trump's reaction Tuesday.
Both generally try to avoid commenting on their apparent disagreements over the president, who George Conway says is unfit for his office. He called Matt Whitaker's nomination "unconstitutional" given his previous comments criticizing special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation. "Consider them as a product of his pathologies, and they make ideal sense", George Conway wrote Monday morning. He also announced last November why he chose to pull his name from consideration for a Trump DOJ post, as Newsweek reported: "Conway described the Trump administration as a "shitshow in a dumpster fire". He is one of the president's most notable conservative critics and wishes he had never introduced his wife to Trump in the first place".
Last year, former White House physician Dr. Ronny Jackson said Trump had aced a diagnostic test used to look at potential mental disorders.
The report describes her going on a "lengthy rant" about George Conway at a British Embassy party in February, citing two anonymous guests at the event. "Why don't you do this, why don't you ask Kellyanne that question, all right?"
"I made it possible for her to be where she is today".
