The company had introduced the Android Go device first in the Philippines earlier this year in January. In terms of design, the Redmi 7 looks very much similar to the Redmi Note 7 smartphones. As far as the specifications are concerned, Redmi 7 will have will have a 6.26-inch LCD HD+ display with screen resolution of 1520 x720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC based on 11nm manufacturing architecture powers the smartphone with 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot for additional storage expansion. The Redmi 7 comes as a successor to the Redmi 6 and will be powered by the Snapdragon 632 SoC. The Redmi 7 is also the most affordable smartphone to come with Kryo CPU.
As usual, Xiaomi has stuffed in a large enough 4,000mAh battery.
The device comes in 2GB + 16GB, 3GB + 32GB, and 4GB + 64GB storage options.
The smartphone has a dual camera setup with the Sony IMX 586 48 MP primary camera and a 5 MP depth sensor. The phone is also able to support up to 512GB of expandable storage. There is also Face Unlock feature as well as a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for security objective. On the front, the device has a 13 MP selfie camera with 1080p video recording capability, whereas the main camera can record 4K videos @30fps. Both the devices carry P2i nano-coating waterproofing. GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, IR Blaster, and MicroUSB 2.0 port.
Coming to the pricing, the base variant with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage is priced at just CNY 699 (approx Dollars 105 / INR 7,10).
The Redmi 7 carries a price tag of RMB 699 (approximately Rs 7,100) in China for the base 2GB RAM and 16GB storage variant and RMB 799 (approximately Rs 8,100) for the 3GB/32GB configuration. Along with the glossy black finish, the smartphone is available in two different choices for color gradients - blue and red. Pre-bookings of the phone start tonight in China and the sales will commence from March 26, 2019.
