Addressing the Business Leaders Summit in Islamabad on Wednesday, the minsiter said when Prime Minister Imran Khan ascended to power six months ago, he inherited a lot of challenges, including corruption, flight of capital, and other socio-economic ills, which had to be overcome.
Qureshi added that several steps have been taken by the current government to boost Pakistan's economy and steps have been taken to create investment opportunities in the country.
Qureshi said that solution to the lingering Kashmir dispute through dialogue is imperative for peace and stability in the region.
"The FM assured me that Pakistan would deal firmly with all terrorists and will continue steps to de-escalate tensions with India", he tweeted.
The German FM acknowledged Pakistan's efforts for the elimination of terrorism.
"Pakistan has never been shy of dialogue", he declared and added that voices within India were also insisting that Kashmiri leadership and people should be engaged.
A Pakistan Army official told Hindustantimes: "We have confirmed reports that PAF's F-16 acquired from both U.S. and Jordan are on high alert all along India-Pakistan border-from Hyderabad in Sindh to Skardu in Northern Areas".
"Pakistan is playing an important role in Afghanistan, being a responsible regional country also, we think that Afghan government has to be part of the process for a sustainable peace in the region", he added. "We are making efforts for peace in Afghanistan". Pakistan's Foreign Office was quoted in media there as saying that it was to give "Pakistan's perspective on the recent regional developments". He confirmed that a large delegation of Malaysian investors will accompany Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed during his visit to Pakistan later this month.
Welcoming the German Foreign Minister, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan attaches high importance to its relations with Germany, which are characterized by shared democratic values and multifaceted cooperation. The two sides discussed the idea of "partnership schools" in order to partner in the field of education.
