Another highlight is the inclusion of a 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor which is 5G-ready. The device starts at approximately $450, or about 2999 Yuan in China for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant.
Xiaomi has adopted a triple rear camera setup on the Mi 9 with a 12-megapixel telephoto lens, primary 48-megapixel sensor and a 16-megapixel super-wide-angle lens, while the flash module is placed behind the glass on the back of the phone.
Xiaomi also showed off three wireless charging accessories, a fast-charging wireless pad, a auto dock and a 10,000-mAh powerbank with wireless charging. A new addition to the back is a 16MP ultra-wide camera with a 117-degree field of view. Xiaomi's Mi 9 SE gets Snapdragon 712 chipset that is clubbed with 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB internal storage. In fact, Huawei's Nova 4 is the only other triple rear camera phone I can think of with a 48MP camera, and even then, the third shooter is actually a depth sensor. Xiaomi says it will take 1 hour and 40 minutes to charge a Mi 9 from dead to full.
The device sports a 6.39-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a water drop notch and a screen-to-body ratio of 90.7%. But it isn't just the standard slow boat wire-free trickle charge that many phones have, as Xiaomi invested a little extra effort to create a special charging pad capable of sending 20-watts of juice to the Mi 9 wirelessly. Xiaomi has stuffed in three cameras on the rear side of the phone.
With a metal and glass chassis, the Mi 9 is backed by a 3,300mAh battery and runs Android 9.0 Pie based on the company's MIUI 10. Xiaomi Mi 9 SE is the lite version of Mi 9 and comes with wonderful specs.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 is also tipped to come equipped with 32W fast charging for the 3,500mAh battery, but there is no word on wireless charging yet. These will be available in blue, violet and black colour options.
Pre-order sales of the Mi 9 kick off in China on February 25 with prices starting at RMB2,999 ($446) - a price that's sure to appeal to Chinese consumers turned off by the price of an iPhone XS.
