The Seattle-based company says it shipped more than 1 billion Prime items in the USA for free, and that best-sellers included Bose QuietComfort Wireless Headphones, L.O.L. Surprise! The last Prime Now order was delivered on Christmas Eve at 11:30 p.m., just in time for Santas arrival.
"In the U.S. alone, more than 1 billion items were shipped for free this holiday with Prime", said Jeff Wilke, CEO worldwide consumer.
Millions of items in the USA were shipped with Prime free same-day shipping, Prime free one-day shipping and Prime Now free two-hour delivery. More customers bought items using the online retail giant than in previous years too.
Although the exact numbers haven't been revealed, the press release states millions more Amazon devices were sold this year.
Other Amazon top sellers include the Amazons Kids Edition devices, including Echo Dot Kids Edition and Fire Kids Edition tablets, Amazon Fire TV, Fire Tablet and Kindle products. As people received new smart speakers, the immediately started plugging them in. the more users plugged in the more requests were received by Alexa.
Due to the holiday season, Alexa was overloaded with requests.
Smart home tech, in general, is picking up momentum.
In the toy category, some of Amazon's best-sellers included LOL Surprise! dolls in the Glam Glitter series and Nerf N-Strike Elite Strongarm Blaster. Also, if you're looking to setting up your Alexa, make sure that you're downloading the official app that is developed by AMZN Mobile LLC.
Amazon's fourth-quarter guidance sent its stock plunging on its last earnings report, where it projected stagnant to minimal growth in operating income compared with last year's holiday shopping season.
Amazon also made sure to tout that their own brands did very well. In October, Amazon's revenue and profit forecast for the holiday quarter fell short of analysts' estimates, as investors anxious about Amazon's increased pace of spending.
