Kareem Hunt, waived Friday by the Kansas City Chiefs after the release of a video that showed him shoving and kicking a woman in February, was also involved in an incident at a Kansas City-area nightclub in January, according to TMZ.
KCTV-5 reports a man told police he was inside the nightclub about 2 a.m. January 7 and was approaching the restrooms when he saw a friend being shoved by three people, one of whom he identified as now former Chiefs player George Atkinson.
The man said he was walking to the bathroom when he saw three men shoving a friend. This one allegedly happened in KC. He identified one of the men as George Atkinson, who at the time was on the Chiefs' practice squad.
He says he was hit in the body and head multiple times and believes he was also knocked unconscious. The 38-year-old victim said he suffered a broken rib, a broken nose and numerous cuts and bruises.
Police were not called to the scene when the alleged incident happened, and no arrests were made.
Ottinger, who reportedly attends Kent State, told police that the incident started because she refused to have sex with a member of Hunt's entourage.
No criminal charges were filed in the Mosaic incident.
FOX4 reached out to the Chiefs, who declined to comment over the phone.
The Chiefs had initially stuck by Hunt, despite reports of the woman's assault accusations.
Police were called to the scene, but no charges were filed for the February 10 incident.
Hunt's public apology and his openness to undergo counseling "if needed" may offer hope for a future in the National Football League given the status of Reuben Foster, who was released by the San Francisco 49ers last month after an arrest for domestic violence. "I deeply regret what I did", Hunt said in a statement.
In an interview over the weekend with ESPN's Lisa Salters, Hunt took responsibility for his actions in the video.
There is also a third assault allegation stemming from a reported attack in June, when Hunt is said to have punched a man at an OH resort. "I was in the wrong, I could've. I could have took responsibility and made the right decision to find a way to de-escalate the situation".
According to NFL.com, Hunt went unclaimed on waivers. However, now that Hunt is a free agent, he's allowed to sign with any team in the NFL. Hunt also was involved in a June incident, according to TMZ, in which he allegedly punched a man at an OH resort.
Hunt admitted to lying to the Chiefs about the incident, but said he had not been questioned about it by the league.
