There wasn't mush to celebrate for the Dallas Cowboys following their loss 28-14 loss on Monday Night Football to the visiting Tennessee Titans with the team playing another game of inconsistent football. On Monday night, the Titans need Mariota to be special against the defense of the Dallas Cowboys, which is ranked number one in total defense in the NFL. The Tennessee safety sprinted to midfield and stood on the Cowboys' star logo while spreading his arms, just as Terrell Owens did 18 years ago at old Texas Stadium in a San Francisco rout.
In many ways, the Cowboys and Titans are very similar teams at this point in time. Both teams rely heavily on their running games and I can see a running play to the likes of Zeke or Dion Lewis being the final play of the first quarter.
Given another chance when what would have been a third straight fumble to start the game was overturned by a review that showed Luke Stocker didn't have the ball long enough on a catch, Mariota led an 80-yard drive capped by Derrick Henry's 1-yard plunge for a 7-7 tie. The Cowboys visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football in Week 10. Mariota will more than likely not have an offensive line that will keep him clean in the pocket, so for the Titans to win, he must break the pocket and make some plays in the passing game and in the running game as well.
He did the same late in the fourth quarter against Washington. Prescott tried to throw the ball over the first defender. Lewis had 62 yards rushing and 60 receiving coming off a career-high 155 scrimmage yards in his last game. His presence should relieve some stress for Ezekiel Elliott and the run game as well. The two turnovers were Prescott's first at home this season. No one knows the answer as of yet, but these six points could help them win the game in prime time. "I've just have to throw it out of the back of the end zone at that point".
"I gave 'em the drip, they sucked it up, I got 'em on it", Owens posted on Twitter.
"I was actually expecting somebody to knock my head off", said Byard, who thought about the possible celebration at the team hotel. "I felt good going into this one and to come out with this loss to be 3-5 is very disappointing".
In the days leading into this game, Prescott wasn't coy.
Linebacker Sean Lee is expected to be out a few weeks at least after re-aggravating his hamstring injury. The Cowboys don't have a first round pick in the upcoming draft.
