Designed by Oscar victor Colleen Atwood, the fight-ready Batwoman costume features a winged cape, a red bat symbol across the chest, a utility belt, and, most striking of all, a red wig emerging from the traditional cowl.
Rose will portray Batwoman first in this year's Arrowverse crossover before going on to headline her own Batwoman pilot. The first look photo of the actress as the iconic Batwoman debuted on October 9, and Ruby completely transforms into the role of the superhero.
In the photo below, Rose has a full head of fiery red hair.
Ever since the announcement in July that the crossover would feature Batwoman, fan excitement has been mounting around the introduction another female lead (this one who also happens to be lesbian and ginger, two things television needs more of) to Greg Berlanti's Arrowverse. "But don't call her a hero yet - in a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham's symbol of hope".
"Growing up watching TV, I never saw somebody that I identified with, let alone a superhero", Rose told Jimmy Fallon during an appearance on The Tonight Show back in August, adding her casting is a "game changer". I'm also an emotional wreck. because this is a childhood dream.
Batwoman is notably one of the few lesbian superheroes to hit the screen, with Rose herself an out lesbian actor.
