A fourth successive winless game and another dire performance, Manchester United's 0-0 Champions League draw with Valencia on Tuesday extended the club's current crisis and prompted manager Jose Mourinho to question his role in their struggles.
An opening seven games which returned just 10 points has seen Mourinho guide the Red Devils to their worst league start for 29-years, ensuring title contenders Manchester City and Liverpool are already seemingly out of sight with each only having dropped two points thus far.
"I'm talking about players who get upset with a manager, a coaching staff, and think "I'm not going to train properly because somebody upset me"... there's a lot of crybabies out there".
"He's coming out in press conferences constantly having a go at players, having a go at the people above for not getting what he wants".
Something clearly isn't right at the club now given that they're languishing in 10th place in the Premier League table after seven games and have already fallen significantly behind their title rivals.
Keane, was asked to comment on the issue between Jose Mourinho, Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez. I always look forward to our games but recently Mourinho has made watching us a punishment now.
Keane, who had a much-publicised training ground row with Harry Arter and Jon Walters during the summer on Ireland duty, says players need to change their attitude to maximise performance.
Mourinho has been heavily criticised by United legends and many others in recent weeks, mainly for the way he has treated his players. 'We know [Valencia owner] Peter Lim well and I'm a United fan. Our attacking players aren't in their best moments of confidence and individual level. Since a 3-0 win over Young Boys in their opening Champions League match, United has gone 0-2-2 in the past four matches in all competition, scoring only four goals over that span and losing to Derby County in the EFL Cup.
"In such a hard group, if you can not win, you don't lose".
"I think we showed improvement and we have to keep going", he added. "It would be really good for the team if we can beat Newcastle".
