Microsoft's hosting its annual hardware event later today in NY, and that means we are expected to see the new Surface range and maybe a bunch of other things too.
One of the most expected announcements for Microsoft's launch event is the successor to the Surface Pro (2017) that was launched previous year.
Surface Pro 6, running an 8th-generation Intel CPU, will have a 12.3-inch display, up to 1 TB of SSD storage, claimed 13.5 hours of battery life and weighing in at 1.7 pounds (according to CNET). And perhaps it won't - Microsoft may save it for the rumoured "Carmel" device that is set to drop next year.

We don't have release dates for those last two, but the Surface Pro 6 and Surface Laptop 2 are available for pre-order now and will go on sale October 16. It did so in an event listing for a Surface event in New Zealand.
The firm describes them as their 'first premium and smart headphone experience'. This 2-in-1 format is aimed at people like doctors, pilots and students who need tablets for note-taking or reading, but a laptop for full functionality.

The company also unveiled its next-generation Windows software - called Windows 10 October 2018 Update - which has a focus on productivity.
It will support phones running Android 7.0 or Google's mobile operating system.
