Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) to the north of the center of the tropical cyclone.
Still, most models show an increasing amount of wind shear hitting the system by Wednesday, which would weaken cyclonic development. It will most likely be absorbed by a larger low in a couple days. "Additional weakening is expected over the next day or so", said the agency, adding that there are no warnings or watches associated with the storm.
According to an advisory early Monday morning, that low-pressure system roughly midway between Bermuda and the Bahamas has a 40 percent chance of development in the next five days.
"This strong wind shear is expected to rip Kirk apart, possibly to the point of degenerating it into a tropical wave by the time it reaches the Windward Islands late Thursday or Friday", the Weather Channel said.
"A cold front is expected to approach the system, and that should cause Leslie to move eastward tonight and Tuesday".
