Kandepi Pruthvi Raj, a 25-year old financial consultant from Andhra Pradesh's Guntur district who was killed after a gunman opened fire in a bank in Cincinnati in the United States on Thursday, was expected to return to India once his marriage was arranged, relatives said. The suspect was also killed.
Cincinnati police chief Eliot Isaac said investigators don't know why Santa Perez chose to open fire in the building that headquarters Fifth Third Bancorp. The gunman then entered the bank's lobby, where he exchanged gunfire with the police, Isaac said.
Austin is "especially grateful" to the two officers who "carried her out of the line of fire after she was shot", the statement says.
The footage also showed 29-year-old Omar Enrique Santa Perez walking quickly past a security turnstile Thursday morning just as he was shot by police officers who fired through a plate glass window.
Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley said: "We send our prayers to the victims and their families".
The area around the skyscraper was shut down until about 9.15am (9pm Singapore time), and police found victims in and around 511 Walnut St, including one who was severely wounded and ended up at an ice cream shop steps from the building. One is in critical condition and one has been upgraded to fair condition.
Manager Duhaney gives credit to police for "swift and decisive actions" that played a role in keeping this incident from being "much worse".
A motive for the shooting is still under investigation. He said the firearm was apparently legally purchased. Police at the time advised people in the area to remain on lockdown until notified it was safe to leave.
He says an investigator told him the suspect had enough ammunition to cause "a bloodbath beyond imagination". Perez's family members could not be reached Thursday.
Police swarmed an apartment in North Bend, Ohio, a village some 15 miles west of Cincinnati. "I'm so thankful to the paramedics and first responders, and the doctors, nurses and staff at UC Medical".
"It's heartbreaking. This is not normal, and it shouldn't be viewed as normal", Cranley said, adding that "there is something deeply sick at work here" and the country needs to reckon with gun violence.
"There was a senseless act of gun violence on the streets of Cincinnati this morning", Ohio Governor John Kasich said on Twitter.
While Austin survived, three people that were killed in the rampage were identified.
Richard Newcomer, a contractor who worked for Gilbane Building Company, was one of three killed.
"She walked in the door and he shot her", Cain said.
The reason Perez selected the bank tower for the shooting is unclear.
