Tesla Inc's chief accounting officer resigned after just a month on Friday and a second senior executive was reported to be leaving as well, hours after Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk smoked marijuana on a live webcast.
The exchange, which came near the end of an interview that lasted more than two and a half hours, illustrates Musk's generally carefree approach.
When Rogan, who happens to be an outspoken advocate for the legalization of marijuana, offered the blunt to Musk, the billionaire playboy first asked whether it was a joint or a cigar.
He told Rogan he thinks that merging humans with computers is the approach that "seems probably the best for us: if you can't beat it, join it". He took one drag from what Rogan described as a joint containing tobacco mixed with marijuana, which is legal in California. Tesla noted in a statement to Reuters that Morton opted to depart from the company due to his discomfort with the level of public attention and Tesla's overall pace of work. But Musk also said this isn't really a priority, and he also dismissed the concept of a flying auto as impractical.
Musk shrugged but said nothing.
Musk touched on the difficulties of having the kind of brain that has enabled him to build and run multiple high-tech companies at the same time. The joint was provided to Musk by Rogan, who said it was legal.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has reversed course on a plan to turn Tesla back into a private company via a significant stock buyback that was estimated to cost tens of billions, closing a very short chapter in. "Every now and again I get drawn in and it's not good, you can make some mistakes".
Tesla did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for comment.
"I've thought about this quite a lot, quite a lot", Musk said of the electric jet design, according to The Verge. It said Morton had no disagreements with Tesla's leadership or financial reporting.
