The eleventh season will also be the first with Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor.
America announced today that the new season of its flagship science fiction show, the first to star Jodie Whittaker, will screen on Sunday rather than in the series' traditional Saturday slot.
With a new Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) and new friends Ryan (Tosin Cole), Yasmin (Mandip Gill) and Graham (Bradley Walsh), this eagerly-anticipated first season from new showrunner Chris Chibnall will welcome back fans and invite those who are new to Who.
Chris Chibnall, Showrunner said "New Doctor, new home!"
Whittaker made her debut as the Doctor at the tail-end of the 2017 Christmas special, when Peter Capaldi's Time Lord regenerated into the franchise's first-ever female lead.
He joked: '(Also, move the sofa away from the wall so parents can hide behind it during the scary bits). We don't have an episode synopsis just yet, but it seems safe to assume that the woman doing the falling is likely the Doctor herself, crashing to earth post-regeneration. Naturally, the nature of the show has changed since then - especially since New Who brought the series to a global stage - though in the U.K., Doctor Who is still fondly thought of as a family show. It's going to be anything but business as usual when the Doctor returns this fall, that much is clear. It means remembering everyone I used to be, while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for: hope.
